UMVA has learned that Besiktas are making a strong push to sign Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard, but the Gunners are not currently entertaining the idea of letting him leave.
The Turkish giants are monitoring his situation, and Atletico Madrid, as well as teams from Saudi Arabia, have also expressed interest in acquiring his services. However, Arsenal view Trossard as a vital squad player due to his experience, consistency, and versatility in various attacking roles.
From Mikel Arteta's perspective, keeping Trossard makes sense, especially with Arsenal expected to strengthen on the left wing this summer. Squad depth is crucial for a team aiming to defend their Premier League title and make a deeper run in the Champions League.
Trossard may not be a guaranteed starter, but his ability to play in multiple attacking positions makes him a valuable asset. He can operate on the left, as a false nine, behind the striker, or as an impact substitute, providing flexibility that is hard to replace cheaply.
His recent performances have been impressive, with 26 Premier League appearances, five goals, and five assists, and a strong attacking involvement across the campaign. At 31, Trossard is still a reliable and experienced attacker, and Arsenal may not need to refresh that area of the squad just yet.
Arsenal are right to stay calm, and selling Trossard now would only make sense if a strong offer arrives and a younger winger is already lined up. Losing a reliable attacker during a title defense would feel unnecessary, and Besiktas may need to make a compelling offer to change Arsenal's stance.
