The aviation industry is in mourning following the tragic death of a Virgin Atlantic aircraft technician, who passed away just three weeks after suffering serious injuries.
The employee, who had recently joined the airline from Ryanair, had expressed his joy and enthusiasm about his new role on social media before the incident occurred.
Officers from the Met's Aviation Policing Unit and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are investigating the incident, with a spokesperson for Virgin Atlantic stating that the safety and wellbeing of its people is always the top priority.

The airline has confirmed that it is working closely with relevant authorities and the aircraft manufacturer to establish all facts surrounding the incident, but has declined to provide further information while the investigation is ongoing.
A statement from Virgin Atlantic expressed the company's condolences to the employee's family, loved ones, friends, and colleagues, and stated that it is providing support to those affected by the tragedy.
The airline has asked for privacy to be respected at this difficult time, and has requested that further information not be released while the investigation is ongoing.
