UMVA has learned that a staggering 2,067 aftershocks have rocked the region following the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that shook Mindanao on Monday.

The aftershocks have been scattered across 538 areas, with 48 of them strong enough to be felt by residents, according to information obtained by UMVA. The tremors have ranged in intensity from 1.2 to 6.4, leaving a trail of concern and uncertainty.

In the past few hours, a significant magnitude 5.2 earthquake was recorded, rattling two areas with considerable intensity. Malapatan, Sarangani, and General Santos City were among the places where the quake was felt, adding to the anxiety and fear already gripping the region.

UMVA can exclusively reveal that seismologists are warning of a prolonged period of aftershocks, which may continue for weeks or even months. The persistent tremors are a stark reminder of the powerful forces that have been unleashed, and the challenges that lie ahead for the people of Mindanao.

The situation remains fluid and uncertain, with residents on edge as they navigate the aftermath of the disaster. As the aftershocks persist, the focus remains on providing support and assistance to those affected, and working to restore a sense of stability and normalcy to the region.
