Streeting declined to launch a formal challenge, instead calling for a ‘broad’ leadership contest with the ‘best field of candidates’.

In response, the Prime Minister thanked Streeting for his ‘hard work’ in improving the NHS and admitted that last week’s election results were ‘tough’ for the party.
