Mississauga trucker charged after vehicle stuck in hairpin turn

A 65‑year‑old commercial truck driver from Mississauga attempted a tight hairpin turn on Forks of the Credit Road in Caledon on Friday, causing his truck and trailer to become wedged in the guardrail.

The roadway, designated as a scenic route between Mississauga Road and Hurontario Street, carries signs prohibiting heavy trucks, a restriction the driver ignored.

Police closed the road for more than two hours while crews worked to extract the vehicle and restore traffic flow.

The driver has been charged with disobeying a posted sign and interfering with traffic.

Law enforcement officials reminded commercial drivers that numerous route restrictions exist to protect both motorists and infrastructure, emphasizing that signage supersedes GPS directions.

Local motorists expressed surprise on social media, noting the difficulty of navigating the curve and questioning how the semi could jackknife so severely.

Police continue to conduct daily commercial‑vehicle enforcement operations to maintain safety for residents and travelers throughout the community.

 Officers were not impressed.
