Rep. Andy Biggs, Backed by Trump, Wins Arizona GOP Primary

Republican Congressman Andy Biggs secured the Arizona governor’s nomination on Tuesday, defeating any intra‑party competition and setting up a November contest against incumbent Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs.

The Democratic primary saw Hobbs run unopposed, confirming her place on the November ballot.

Early results showed Biggs leading decisively within an hour of poll closure, ultimately capturing roughly 70 percent of the first batch of returns. Election officials declared the Republican primary decided at 11:03 p.m. Eastern Time.

In a victory statement, Biggs expressed gratitude to grassroots supporters and framed his campaign as an effort to restore the American Dream and unite the state’s Republican Party. He pledged to work day and night for all Arizonans, regardless of party affiliation.

Hobbs responded by emphasizing her personal experience with financial hardship, noting a past foreclosure and ongoing concerns about utility and healthcare costs. She promised to focus on lowering expenses for residents, despite a record of vetoing numerous bills related to affordability.

The two candidates now head toward a November showdown that will determine Arizona’s executive leadership for the next term.
