Authorities uncovered a tragic incident during a routine welfare check at a residence on Tuesday, June 23. Two children were found deceased, prompting an ongoing murder investigation.
Law enforcement identified the deceased as siblings, with their grandmother, Steadman, linked to the case through a handwritten note discovered at the scene. Investigators have not yet disclosed whether charges will be filed against her.
The children’s father, Harmon, had planned to relocate to Utah with the children for the summer, as he continued a lengthy custody dispute with their mother, Myers. He expressed concerns about the children’s safety prior to the tragedy.
Harmon, who has spent six years navigating legal proceedings to secure visitation rights, described the system as ineffective in addressing family emergencies. “I spent six and a half years fighting to have access to my kids,” he stated, describing the situation as a violation of their trust.
As the investigation continues, Harmon emphasized his priority: to ensure the children’s safety and distance them from individuals he holds responsible for the deaths. “My concern now is bringing my kids home and protecting them from those who harmed them,” he said.
