Two tow-truck drivers tore through a police investigation scene in Mississauga, nearly mowing down an officer before vanishing into the night. The chaos erupted around 10:40 p.m. on Dec. 18, 2025, at the intersection of Mavis Road and Queensway West.
Officers were already on-site, helping victims of a collision. Then, out of nowhere, two tow trucks came screaming toward them, racing each other to grab the tow job first. Video footage released by Peel Regional Police captures the terrifying moment: an officer leaps out of the way as the trucks barrel across a grass boulevard and smash into the active crash scene.
"We've all seen tow trucks driving like fools, but this was next level," Const. Tyler Bell said in the video. One truck nearly hit both an officer and a bystander. The other slammed directly into one of the cars from the initial collision. Instead of stopping to check if anyone was hurt, both drivers sped off—still driving like maniacs.
Police canvassed the area and pulled CCTV footage that showed the trucks being driven recklessly through residential streets at insane speeds, running stop signs and red lights. "Complete disregard for public safety," investigators said. Miraculously, no injuries were reported.
After a thorough investigation, two suspects were identified and arrested. Abdulaziz Omar and Bilal Nofal, both 30 and from Mississauga, now face a laundry list of charges: dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident, flight from a peace officer, disobeying a stop sign, stunt driving, and multiple tow-truck-specific violations.
While the video is shocking, Const. Bell urged people not to judge all tow-truck operators by this incident. "It doesn’t reflect the many professionals that do this job, a thankless and dangerous job, the right way," he said.
