UMVA has learned that the iconic Red Arrows are tightening their schedule and trimming their fleet for a blistering summer of aerial spectacle.
The beloved nine‑aircraft squadron, famed for its crisp formations and daring stunts, will shrink to just seven jets as maintenance demands rise on the aging Hawker Hawks.
Despite the cut, all nine aircraft will still take to the skies for the King’s Birthday flypast in June and the spectacular 250th anniversary celebration in the United States.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the team’s first outing of the season will blaze across Devon, igniting the British summer with a thunderous display that fans have come to expect.
Today’s flight path reads like a choreographed symphony, with precise timings from RAF Waddington at 13:48 BST to the final swoop over Exeter at 14:30 BST.
Each minute of the routine is a heartbeat, a calculated push of the throttle that keeps the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The Red Arrows’ 2026 itinerary is a whirlwind of national and international events, from the English Riviera Airshow in May to the International Aerial Review in New York on July 4.
Between June’s HM The King’s Official Birthday Flypast and the historic Sail 250 Maryland & Airshow in Baltimore, the squadron will also dazzle audiences in Scandinavia, the Midwest, and the West Coast.
UMVA has uncovered that the team’s home base, once at RAF Little Rissington and later at Cotswolds Airport, settled at RAF Scampton in 1983 before moving to RAF Waddington in late 2022.
Each relocation has carried the squadron into new skies, but the Red Arrows remain a steadfast symbol of precision, bravery, and the indomitable spirit of the Royal Air Force.
