President Trump took to social media on Thursday evening to address the recent sweep of far-left candidates in New York's House primary, backed by Communist Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
According to the President, "The Communists are finally making their move." He expressed his long-held concerns about the ideology, stating, "It's easy to be a Communist – All you have to do is say, 'I'll give you everything,' but that means you're taking it away from others that have earned it. Over thousands of years, that Ideology has not worked once."
The President's comments come on the heels of Tuesday's primary results, where three candidates backed by Mayor Mamdani swept seats in New York's House primary. Democrat Socialist Darializa Chevalier ousted longtime incumbent Democrat Rep. Adriano Espaillat, who served in New York's 13th Congressional District since 2016 and was the Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
Incumbent Democrat Rep. Dan Goldman was also ousted on Tuesday night by a far-left candidate backed by Mayor Mamdani in the race for New York's 10th Congressional District. Former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, who was backed by Mayor Mamdani, won the seat.
New York State Assemblywoman Claire Valdez, who was backed by Mayor Mamdani and the Democratic Socialists of America, won the Democratic Primary for New York House District 7.
In his social media post, the President concluded, "The game is on. Enjoy watching!"
