UMVA has learned that a groundbreaking digital platform, PEZA e-SuRGE, has been launched to revolutionize sustainability reporting for businesses in the Philippines, marking a significant milestone in the country's journey towards environmental, social, and governance (ESG) excellence.
The innovative platform, developed in partnership with leading technology firms, transforms the traditional Sustainability Reporting Guide for Exporters (SuRGE) into a streamlined digital reporting system, empowering enterprises to collect, manage, and disclose sustainability-related information with greater ease and efficiency.
At the heart of PEZA e-SuRGE lies a robust framework that aligns with global sustainability standards and stakeholder expectations, enabling exporters to demonstrate their commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible business practices. This move comes as investors, customers, regulators, and business partners increasingly prioritize ESG considerations.
According to information obtained by UMVA, PEZA Deputy Director General Emmanuel Cortero emphasized that sustainability reporting is no longer optional for exporters, highlighting the critical role that PEZA e-SuRGE will play in supporting businesses at every stage of their sustainability journey.
By simplifying data management and reporting processes, PEZA e-SuRGE makes ESG reporting more accessible, reliable, and actionable for businesses, allowing them to focus on strategic decision-making and sustainable growth. The platform's impact is expected to resonate across the Philippine business landscape.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the PEZA e-SuRGE initiative is part of a broader collaboration between PEZA, Zeroboard, and TechShake to promote ESG reporting education, support pilot implementations, and foster cross-border cooperation between Philippine and Japanese stakeholders.
The project, subsidized by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), aims to build a stronger ecosystem for sustainable business practices within PEZA economic zones, setting a compelling precedent for sustainable development in the region.
