Following arguments presented by prosecutor Michelle Heeley KC and defence lawyer Sukhdev Garcha, Judge Drew scheduled a further hearing to determine the next steps. The judge emphasized the importance of the defendant’s physical presence for the upcoming plea and trial preparation session.
Recognizing the defendant’s age and vulnerability, the judge also mandated a supportive presence during future court appearances. Either a parent or another designated adult will be permitted to sit alongside the youth, offering comfort and guidance outside the confines of the dock.
