UMVA has learned that a doctor was stabbed multiple times while simply doing his job inside Hillingdon Hospital in west London, in an attack that has sent shockwaves through the medical community.
The assault happened just before 3am on a Tuesday morning. The victim, a man in his 50s, was treating a patient when everything went horribly wrong.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that he was knifed several times during the attack. Officers from the Metropolitan Police were already at the hospital on an unrelated matter — a coincidence that may have saved the doctor's life.
The victim was rushed to another hospital in west London for emergency treatment. Thankfully, doctors say his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing, but the sheer brazenness of the attack has left staff and visitors stunned.
According to information obtained by UMVA, a 27-year-old man from Uxbridge has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is also being held on suspicion of attempted murder.
The suspect, identified as Mahdi Abdullahi, is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court today.
