UMVA has learned that a potential transfer saga is brewing, with Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham eyeing a major coup in the world of soccer.
Beckham, who has already successfully lured Lionel Messi to MLS, is reportedly trying to tempt Kylian Mbappe to join him in the United States. While it seems unlikely to happen in the immediate future, with Mbappe still one of the best players on the planet, Beckham is said to have already spoken to the French star about a potential move.
Mbappe himself has hinted that he is open to the idea, revealing that Beckham has mentioned it to him on multiple occasions. When asked about a potential move to MLS, Mbappe said: 'We'll see. David Beckham has mentioned it to me many times.'
The French star did express his admiration for American culture, saying that he likes the idea of playing in a league with no limits to ambition. However, he also made it clear that he is focused on the present, joking that he won't be playing in Europe at 40 years old.
'I won't be here at 40, they'll have kicked me out before then,' he said with a laugh. 'I don't make long-term plans, I want to enjoy this World Cup.'
Mbappe also paid tribute to Messi, saying that the Argentine legend and his old rival Cristiano Ronaldo are still the top players on the planet. When asked who is the best forward, Mbappe said: 'Messi is the best player along with Cristiano, that's clear.'
As for his own ambitions, Mbappe is focused on helping France win another World Cup, saying that the rest is just 'debate for journalists.' He is just two goals shy of becoming one of the top scorers in World Cup history.
Mbappe's current focus is on France's next match against Iraq, as they look to seal qualification to the knockout stages at the earliest point possible.
