UMVA has learned that a dramatic and disturbing scene unfolded in Toronto's Regent Park neighborhood in the early hours of May 9, when a traffic stop led to the seizure of a loaded firearm and a significant quantity of cocaine.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Toronto Police officers from 51 Division's Primary Response Unit were on patrol near Dundas St. E. and Sackville St. when they initiated an investigation into a vehicle and its occupants, ultimately uncovering a web of alleged crimes.
The officers' swift action resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm, and subsequent search warrants led to the recovery of a quantity of cocaine and a substantial amount of cash, leaving authorities to unravel the complex and far-reaching implications of the discovery.
Two Toronto residents, Dakari Dawkins, 30, and Kiesha Schell-Pink, 30, were arrested and face a multitude of serious charges, including multiple firearm and drug-related offenses, as well as allegations of driving while disqualified and possession of proceeds of crime.
Dawkins' extensive list of charges includes driving a motor vehicle while suspended, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, while Schell-Pink faces similar charges, including possession of a loaded firearm and handling ammunition carelessly.
