BSP Governor Diokno Backs Central Bank's Labor Deal with ILO

The government has been urged to ratify the International Labor Organization's Convention No. 193, which aims to strengthen legal protections for millions of Filipinos working in the gig economy.

Party-list Rep. Jose Manuel I. Diokno called for the ratification of the convention, saying it would complement an existing bill that aims to protect online workers.

Digital platforms have become a crucial source of livelihood for many Filipinos, with millions engaged in ride-hailing, food delivery, courier services, and other forms of online-mediated work.

The ILO convention establishes international standards on fair pay, workplace safety, algorithm transparency, and labor rights for platform workers.
