LONDON MARATHON CHAOS: Your 2027 Spot Disappears FAST!

LONDON MARATHON CHAOS: Your 2027 Spot Disappears FAST!

The energy of the London Marathon is palpable, even now, as runners prepare to tackle the 26.2-mile course this Sunday. But for those who didn't secure a spot, a new opportunity has emerged – a chance to join the incredible spectacle in 2027.

Today, Friday, April 24th, the ballot for the 2027 London Marathon opens, offering a gateway to participate in one of the world’s most iconic races. The demand is staggering; last year’s ballot shattered records with over 1.1 million entries, a testament to the marathon’s enduring appeal.

The London Marathon isn’t just a race; it’s a powerful demonstration of human spirit and community. Organizers believe the event’s popularity stems from its ability to genuinely connect people, fostering experiences that resonate long after the finish line.

Since its inception in 1981, over 1.3 million runners have completed the London Marathon, making it the world’s largest of its kind. In 2025 alone, over 56,000 runners crossed the finish line, a remarkable achievement for each individual.

The impact extends far beyond personal accomplishment. Runners have collectively raised an astonishing £1.4 billion for charities, transforming lives with every stride. This incredible generosity adds another layer of meaning to the already inspiring event.

To accommodate the unprecedented demand, organizers are considering a two-day event for 2027, potentially doubling the number of participants. If approved, all applicants will be automatically entered into both days, significantly increasing their chances of running.

The ballot remains open until May 1st, with results expected in July 2026. Entry fees for the UK ballot are typically £79.99, with a reduced rate of £49.99 available for those who donate their fee to the London Marathon Foundation if unsuccessful.

International runners face a higher fee of £225, including a carbon offset contribution. Alternatively, runners can secure a place through a charity, usually requiring a registration fee around £120 and a sponsorship pledge of approximately £2,500.

Don’t despair if your name isn’t initially drawn. Every applicant is automatically entered into a second ballot, effectively doubling your odds. Success in either ballot guarantees your place in this extraordinary event.

Confirmation of your application, and a payment receipt if applicable, will be sent via email. Be sure to check your junk folder if you don’t receive it promptly. The results will be delivered to all entrants in July 2026.

Even if unsuccessful in both ballots, there’s a silver lining. You’ll receive a free hydration vest valued at over £100, and your entry fee will be donated to the London Marathon Foundation, continuing the cycle of support.

If London doesn’t work out, the UK boasts a wealth of other fantastic marathons. Consider the flat and beginner-friendly Manchester Marathon, the scenic Great Welsh Marathon, or the vibrant Brighton Marathon.
