Soccer Coach Found Guilty of Sexually Abusing Minors Under His Care with Substance Abuse.

Camilo Campos-Hurtado, a Mexican citizen living in Franklin, Tennessee, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for using alcohol and drugs to sexually exploit children while working as a soccer coach. The 30-year sentence was handed down in a federal court on July 2, following Campos-Hurtado's guilty plea in June to multiple charges, including sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of child sexual abuse material.

According to the investigation, Campos-Hurtado committed the offenses between 2017 and 2021, but forensic analysis of his electronic devices revealed that he had been producing child sexual abuse material since at least 2013. Investigators discovered explicit videos on a cellphone he had left behind at a business in Franklin, which led to the launch of the investigation in 2023.

During a search of Campos-Hurtado's home and vehicle, investigators found numerous counterfeit immigration and identification documents. The investigation was led by the Department of Homeland Security, which worked closely with the Franklin Police Department and other federal agencies to build the case against Campos-Hurtado.

At a press conference following the sentencing, a senior official from the Department of Homeland Security emphasized the severity of Campos-Hurtado's crimes and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable. "This criminal illegal alien pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting children and child pornography charges after he repeatedly drugged and assaulted children while he was working as a soccer coach," the official said.

Campos-Hurtado's immigration status is being addressed by federal authorities, and it is unclear when he entered the United States illegally. Upon his release from prison, he will be subject to deportation and will not be allowed to return to the country. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting children from exploitation and abuse, and the need for continued vigilance in preventing such crimes.
