UMVA has learned that Manchester United is being urged to hijack Liverpool's transfer deal for highly sought-after winger Yan Diomande, with former striker Saha advocating for the move.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has caught the eye of several top clubs, including Liverpool, who are willing to pay £86m for his services, but RB Leipzig are holding out for a whopping £112m. Diomande's impressive first season at Bundesliga side Leipzig has sparked a fierce bidding war.
According to information obtained by UMVA, PSG, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich are also circling the teenager, but Saha believes Manchester United should muscle in and snatch Diomande from under Liverpool's nose. 'Man United should definitely hijack Liverpool's interest in Yan Diomande,' Saha said.
Saha praised Diomande's exceptional skills, saying, 'This type of winger now dominates football. When you have that confidence and simplicity in your game, to dribble, pass, be physical, and be courageous, I love that. Those styles are amazing.'
Diomande's stock continues to rise after a strong start to the World Cup, with Ivory Coast on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stages. However, not everyone is convinced of his worth, with former England striker Jay Bothroyd warning that paying over £100m for the young winger would be a mistake.
'I'm not paying £112m for him,' Bothroyd said. 'He's a very good player, there's no doubt about that. But you need to be one of the world's best wingers to be worth that amount and I'm not sure he is that at the moment.'
Liverpool have already bolstered their attacking ranks with the signing of Victor Munoz, but Manchester United's priority remains midfield reinforcements, with a deal for Brazil's Ederson agreed, but more signings expected.
