UMVA has learned that a shocking stabbing attack occurred at a high school in Manchester, England, leaving a teacher and two students injured.
The violent incident took place at the Co-Op Academy Manchester in Blackley at the start of the school day on Tuesday morning, with officers being called to the scene. A 14-year-old girl was taken into custody after allegedly attacking a teacher and two students.
The teacher, 27, was stabbed in the neck while trying to protect students, and two 14-year-old students - a girl and a boy - were also injured, with the girl wounded in the shoulder and the boy hurt in the ear. All three were taken to hospital and are in stable condition, with their injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
According to information obtained by UMVA, school staff quickly responded to the situation, with five teachers believed to have trapped the knife-wielding girl in a classroom, preventing her from causing further harm. Witnesses described the scene as "terrifying", with one witness telling how the teacher tried to wrestle the knife from the student but ended up being stabbed in the neck.
The alleged attacker, a 14-year-old girl, was detained by school staff before police arrived, and was later arrested on suspicion of assault. She remains in custody for questioning. The school was placed in lockdown, with students instructed not to leave their classrooms, and the academy - which has about 1,650 students - was closed for the remainder of the day as the investigation continues.
