The harrowing encounter between a woman and a large bear in a wooded area of Canada has left many shaken. The tense video, shot on the woman's phone, captures the frightening moment when the bear begins to stalk her as she walks her dog.
Despite her desperate attempts to scare the bear away, it continues to follow her down the road. The woman repeatedly shouts "No! Go away" and makes loud noises, but the bear remains undeterred, slowly moving towards her before suddenly charging.
The bear circled around her, rearing up on its hind legs several times to reveal its massive size. For nearly two agonizing minutes, the bear runs towards her then backs away, leaving the woman in a state of pure terror.
It wasn't until the woman threw what appeared to be her water bottle behind a gate that the bear became distracted. The video ends with the woman racing away as the bear investigates what she had thrown.
The encounter occurred near where the woman was camping with others, according to an interview with Wilderness Escape Adventures in Alberta. The woman had just grabbed her dog's leash and began to head back to camp when the bear appeared.
Experts warn that running from a bear can trigger their predatory instincts and bears can outrun humans at up to 35 mph. Fortunately, the woman stayed calm during the encounter and didn't run from the bear until it had moved away from her.
