UMVA has learned that Prince George, the eldest child of Prince William and Princess Catherine, is set to follow in the royal footsteps of his father and uncle, Prince Harry, by attending Eton College in the fall.
The young prince, who turns 13 on July 22, will be joining the elite all-boys boarding school's long list of royal alumni, including Queen Elizabeth II's cousins, Prince Richard and Prince Michael of Kent, and the late Princess Diana's father and brother, John Spencer and Charles Spencer.
Eton College, founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, a distant relative of Prince George, has a rich history of educating British royalty and aristocracy, with 20 British prime ministers, including several notable figures, having studied there.
The school's impressive list of alumni also includes celebrities like Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne, Dominic West, and Damian Lewis, who count themselves among the Old Etonians, a testament to the school's strong tradition of fostering talent and leadership.
Life at Eton is characterized by a sense of community, with the school housing about 1,350 boys a year across 25 different residences, each operating like a family, led by a resident House Master and supported by a Dame who looks after the students' domestic needs and wellbeing.
As a student at Eton, Prince George can expect a modern and progressive education, with the school's managing editor, Melanie Sanderson, describing it as a place where "despite its ancient buildings, it is a modern school with a progressive outlook," well-equipped to prepare him for his future role as a modern working royal.
With tuition fees for the 2025-26 year totaling just over 63,000 pounds, Prince George's parents have spared no expense in providing him with what they believe is the best preparation for life as a future king, one that will "impact people's lives for the better," according to Prince William.
As the future king, Prince George faces a unique set of challenges, but with his parents' guidance and Eton's strong tradition of fostering leadership, he is well-positioned to navigate the complexities of royal life and make a positive impact on the world.
