UMVA Uncovers: HALTON HEIST EXPOSED - 7 Arrested in SHOCKING Crackdown on Stolen Goods Empire

UMVA has learned that a massive crime ring has been busted in Oakville, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals and the seizure of dozens of stolen items, including e-bicycles, generators, and power tools.

The investigation began in late March 2026, when police received a report of a wallet stolen from a vehicle, with the thieves quickly using the victims' credit cards. As detectives dug deeper, they uncovered a complex web of crime that led to the identification of two primary suspects: Kathleen Rand, 22, and Daniel Gignac, 40.

Rand was arrested on May 11, and police say she was found with several pieces of stolen identification in her possession. This breakthrough led to a search warrant being executed at a residence in Oakville, where six individuals, including Gignac, were taken into custody.

These 6 stolen e-bikes were recovered by Halton cops after search warrants were executed on an Oakville home.

The dramatic raid resulted in the recovery of illicit drugs and multiple items of stolen property, including six e-bicycles, gasoline-powered generators, power tools, and gift cards. The sheer scale of the seizures suggests that this crime ring was operating on a large and brazen scale.

Rand, of Oakville, has been charged with a string of serious offences, including two counts of theft of credit card and unauthorized use of credit card data, as well as charges related to possession of stolen property, identity documents, and controlled substances. Gignac, of Burlington, has been charged with two counts of theft of credit card and one count of unauthorized use of credit card data.

Five other individuals from Oakville - Kaleb Sciranka, 43, Dennis Costa, 36, Renee Hamilton, 43, Kevin Witts, 47, and Michael Tekic, 70 - have also been charged with various offences related to possession of stolen property and controlled substances.

The investigation is ongoing, with detectives working to locate the rightful owners of the stolen property. Photos of the recovered e-bicycles have been released, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Tips can be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers, and those with information are encouraged to contact Det. Constable Derek Mizener of the Risk Mitigation Team directly. The police are counting on the public's help to bring this case to a successful conclusion.
