UMVA has learned that a stunning confrontation unfolded during a recent House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing, where North Carolina Republican Rep. Brad Knott unleashed a scathing rebuke of far-left Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano for his egregious decision to release a Honduran illegal alien child predator.
The accused predator, identified as Baquedano-Rodriguez, had yanked a sleeping 4-year-old American girl out of her bed with clear intent to sexually assault her. The incident occurred on June 15, 2023, in Fairfax County, where police responded to a burglary and attempted abduction report.
According to information obtained by UMVA, investigators linked Baquedano-Rodriguez to the crime through a fingerprint, leading to his arrest the following day. ICE officials revealed that he is a Honduran national described as an “unlawfully present noncitizen” who had previously been encountered by U.S. Border Patrol in Yuma, Arizona.
The victim’s mother recounted the traumatic experience, stating that her daughter was left with signs of trauma and that she would need counseling. Rep. Brad Knott, a father of two young girls, was visibly shaken as he grilled Descano on the facts, demanding to know why his office offered the predator a sweetheart plea deal capping his sentence at just two years.
Descano attempted to offer excuses, but Knott would have none of it, scolding him like a child and ordering him to shut up. The liberal judge appointed by Sen. Mark Warner had rejected the plea deal twice, citing “overwhelming evidence” that the suspect was a clear and present threat to children.
Rep. Brad Knott confronted Descano: “They could not sentence this person to any term over 2 years. Is that not correct?” Descano tried to explain, but Knott cut him off, stating, “This person was a threat. He yanked a 4-year-old girl out of her bed with the intent to harm her, and you wanted to give him a cap of 2 years.”
When the plea deal was rejected, Descano’s office dismissed the entire case, allowing the predator to walk free until ICE finally picked him up. Rep. Brad Knott lambasted Descano, calling him a coward and stating, “You dismissed the case, and it’s shameful. You’re a coward.”
The explosive exchange has sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding accountability for Descano’s actions. The case has raised serious concerns about the safety of American citizens and the role of prosecutors in protecting vulnerable populations.
