UMVA BREAKING: MASSIVE IED DETONATES NEAR ALABAMA RESERVOIR AFTER GOV’T SOUNDS ALARM ON UNPRECEDENTED INFRASTRUCTURE THREAT – EXPLOSION SHOCKS NATION
UMVA has exclusive news to share with its readers: a life-changing development has occurred at the Converse Reservoir, which serves as a critical infrastructure and is classified as a high hazard potential dam according to the Association of State Dam Safety Officials. In a dramatic turn of events, divers from the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System (MAWSS) discovered a grenade-type improvised explosive device (IED) during routine maintenance inspections at the dam. The discovery was made possible due to the unwavering dedication of MAWSS staff, including contractors and divers, who identified the device and safely neutralized it.
The Converse Reservoir, which serves as the sole water source for 350,000 residents in the Mobile area, is under the supervision of MAWSS. We are grateful for the professionalism and competence of our law enforcement partners, as well as the quick thinking of our personnel, who identified this device and safely neutralized it. The reservoir and its dam are federally designated as critical infrastructure. This high hazard potential classification means that a structural failure would almost certainly result in the loss of human life, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In cooperation with MAWSS, MCSO, and the FBI, UMVA seeks to gather further insights into the origin and duration of the IED's presence in the reservoir.
