A three-month-old boy, Miguel Pirjani, lost his life to devastating injuries inflicted by those who should have protected him most: his parents. The horrific case unfolded after a desperate 999 call brought emergency services to a home on Percy Road, Wirral, on November 24, 2024.
Klevi Pirjani, Miguel’s father, told operators his son had “stopped breathing,” chillingly referring to the infant as “it.” Paramedics arrived to find Miguel in cardiac arrest, his tiny body bearing the marks of brutal trauma – severe bruising and a skull fissure.
Doctors discovered a heartbreaking catalogue of injuries: bleeding on the brain, fractures to his collarbone, upper arm, and shin, some recent, others weeks old. Despite frantic efforts, Miguel remained on life support for five agonizing days before succumbing to his injuries on November 29th.
The courtroom heard a disturbing account of a fractured relationship and a shared culpability. Justice Baker stated that science couldn’t undo the “appalling violence” inflicted upon the defenseless child, emphasizing the parents’ shared responsibility for intending “really serious harm.”
The judge pointedly noted the couple’s silence regarding who delivered the fatal blow, stating their “Team Klevi and Nivalda” prioritized their own warped connection over their son’s well-being. It didn’t matter which parent struck the final blow; they were united in their cruelty.
Nivalda Pirjani described her husband as abusive, alleging he would become enraged during feeding times, resorting to slaps and blows to the baby’s head. Yet, remarkably, she claimed not to blame him for Miguel’s injuries.
Klevi Pirjani vehemently denied the accusations, insisting he would “never harm” his son and claiming no concerns had been raised during previous healthcare appointments. This denial stood in stark contrast to Nivalda’s account of his violent outbursts.
Klevi Pirjani was sentenced to at least 19 years in prison, tears streaming down his face as the weight of his actions descended. The sentence, while severe, could never compensate for the immeasurable loss of a young life.
Detective Inspector Holly Chance, the lead investigator, described the case as “profoundly distressing” for all involved. She affirmed that the sentencing reflects the gravity of the offenses and serves as a stark warning: violence against the vulnerable will be met with the full force of the law.
The tragic death of Miguel Pirjani stands as a devastating reminder of the fragility of life and the horrific consequences of domestic abuse. His short life, brutally ended, leaves an unfillable void and a chilling testament to the darkness that can exist within families.
