olice are searching for two teenagers who are still unaccounted for after a car carrying five people crashed into a river. Cambridgeshire Police said the vehicle left the road and entered the River Nene near Wisbech at about 8.20pm on Tuesday. The force said there were five people in the car and they were aged between 16 and 18, with two males and three females. Three of the five people, two female and one male, got out of the vehicle and were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn with injuries that were not life-threatening. Two of the teenagers, a male and a female, "have not been accounted for and searches continue", police said. The vehicle was travelling southbound on North Brink in Wisbech St Mary's when it left the road, the force said, with the road likely to remain closed for the remainder of Wednesday. At least a dozen emergency services personnel could be seen on the riverbank on Wednesday afternoon, as someone who appeared to be a diver searched in the water. There was a white forensic tent on the riverbank and emergency service vehicles parked along the road nearby.

Authorities believe the car was traveling southbound on North Brink when it veered off the road. The area remains closed to traffic as emergency services continue their painstaking efforts. The road is expected to remain shut down for the rest of the day.

Wednesday afternoon saw a concentrated effort, with at least a dozen emergency personnel converging on the riverbank. A diver meticulously searched the murky waters, while a white forensic tent stood as a somber reminder of the tragedy unfolding.

The search is not only focused on recovery but also on understanding what led to this devastating event. Police are actively seeking witnesses and requesting anyone with dashcam footage from the area to come forward, hoping to piece together the events of that night.
