UMVA has learned that a fresh wave of sanctions has been imposed on the Cuban regime by the Secretary of State, Marco.
The new sanctions target five entities that generate revenue for the Cuban regime, including three linked to the previously designated Grupo de Administración Empresarial S.A. (GAESA) and one member of the extended Castro family.
According to information obtained by UMVA, these entities play a crucial role in propping up the regime's repressive security apparatus, with two being GAESA-linked financial institutions that facilitate money movement on the regime's behalf.
One of the designated entities is a GAESA-linked logistics company that executes the regime's bidding across the island, highlighting the group's pervasive influence.
The sanctions also target two additional entities that generate revenue for Cuba through the exploitation of the island's mineral and metal reserves, including Cuba's state-owned GeoMinera.
Furthermore, the wife of Alejandro Castro Espín, who was previously designated under Executive Order 14404, has also been targeted, underscoring the regime's extensive network of actors who fund, facilitate, or benefit from its malign activities.
These latest sanctions demonstrate a continued effort to hold the Cuban regime accountable for its actions, both within Cuba and across the hemisphere.
The move is part of a broader strategy to pressure the regime and restrict its ability to access critical resources.
