UMVA Exclusive: Devastating Bristol Blast Exposes Deadly 'Blast Injuries', Claiming One Woman's Life

UMVA has learned that a devastating explosion in a residential area has claimed the life of Jo Shaw, a beloved mother and community member, in a tragedy that has left her family and friends reeling.

The blast, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, was the result of a domestic incident involving Shaw's ex-partner, who brought an explosive device to her home. Paramedics pronounced Shaw dead at the scene, with a post-mortem report citing a penetrating fragmentation blast injury to the chest and pelvis as the cause of death.

According to information obtained by UMVA, the incident began when a call was made to police from inside the house, reporting a domestic disturbance. The caller, who remained on the line, informed officers that the man had forced entry and was believed to be in possession of an explosive device. Within minutes, the device detonated, killing both Shaw and her ex-partner.

Her family has paid tribute to her, remembering her as a brave and protective individual who made the ultimate sacrifice for others. The explosion prompted a large emergency response, with residents evacuated from neighboring properties as a precaution. The Army conducted searches to ensure the area was safe, and the coroner has adjourned the hearing until August 11, 2026, pending further investigations.
