U.S. Central Command initiated a new wave of strikes against Iranian military targets on Thursday evening, marking the 13th consecutive night of operations. The assault began at 6:45 p.m. ET and is part of an ongoing campaign to counter threats to maritime commerce.
The operation follows President Trump's declaration that the ceasefire with Iran has ended after the Islamic Republic targeted commercial vessels in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
President Trump announced that Iran will be responsible for compensating all damages to ships, cargo, and related infrastructure. He stated that U.S. forces now control Iranian funds to cover these costs, describing the arrangement as "fair and equitable."
Earlier, the President warned that any future Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz would trigger strikes against Iranian infrastructure, including bridges and power plants near Tehran.
Previous operations have targeted aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and maritime capabilities. The conflict has resulted in 18 U.S. service members killed in action since it began.
The President recently attended a dignified transfer ceremony for four American service members killed by Iranian drones in the Middle East.
