A growing number of Democrats are supporting the idea of pulling support for Israel, but one prominent figure has a long history of making anti-Israeli statements.
According to reports, this individual has a history of issues with Jews dating back years, including a recent incident in which she allegedly blamed Orthodox Jews for helping spread COVID throughout New York during the pandemic.
In March of last year, a former MSNBC production assistant who is Jewish said they were startled by the comments, which were made on a conference call to about 20 people.
The former staffer recalled Reid saying on the call, “They’re the reason why COVID is spreading across New York. They don’t care about COVID or spreading it to others.”
The staffer expressed their shock at Reid's comments, saying, “No one called her out [saying] ‘Maybe we shouldn’t generalize.’ Imagine if you said that about any other group of people — even if it were true — saying that any other group didn’t care about COVID?”
The former Reid employee also spoke about the hypocrisy they experienced during their tenure at MSNBC, which has since been rebranded.
They described the atmosphere as “very hypocritical” and “completely contradictory,” with Reid speaking up for marginalized groups but having no problem blaming Jews for spreading the virus.
The individual claimed that the show focused on targeted racial issues while ignoring other forms of discrimination.
This incident, among others, highlights the complexities of a figure who has made anti-Israeli statements and has a history of issues with Jews.
