UMVA has learned that Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry have made their romance red-carpet official at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her film, ‘The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris.’
The power couple stepped out in New York City, with Trudeau clad in a black suit and white shirt, and Perry in a full-length white gown, signing autographs for fans. At one point, as they posed for photographers, Trudeau playfully rubbed Perry’s behind, which sparked outrage on social media.
“What a classless pig!” one person declared, with another branding Trudeau a “creepy old geezer.” “Is it just me or anyone else also feels the butt-touching is a bit uncomfortable to watch,” a third person asked. “Gross and degrading to cup her ass,” a fourth critic wrote.
Despite the backlash, Perry and Trudeau seemed to be enjoying themselves, with fan-shot video from inside the theatre capturing Perry embracing Trudeau as she sang her song Not Like the Movies to him. Elsewhere, he was captured gazing up lovingly at his new girlfriend when she joined attendees in a sing-along of Dark Horse.
During a post-screening Q&A, Perry spoke about her personal journey in 2025, which saw her split from longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom before she started dating Trudeau. “Every day is a fantastic journey, and every day is a chance to evolve and to be a better person and do the right thing and to be a model for your community, for your family, for your world,” Perry said.
Perry revealed that 2025 was “one of the hardest years of my life.” “I went through a f*-ton,” she candidly revealed. “And there were days that were really, really, really hard, and I just kept going because I made a promise to my fans, I made a promise to my daughter, I made a promise to myself.”
Perry also spoke about becoming more of a role model to her 5-year-old daughter Daisy, whom she co-parents with Bloom. “If I’m out there living my most authentic, empowered, smart, sexy life, she’s gonna have a model to follow,” she said.
Trudeau and Perry first sparked dating rumours when they were spotted having dinner in Montreal last July. An insider close to the couple revealed that Perry is “really happy right now” and that “Katy loves that Justin laughs at her jokes and understands her quirky humour.”
The couple’s relationship seems to be going strong, with the insider adding that “the future is definitely something they’ve talked about, and they’re both committed to seeing where this goes.”
