Holly Willoughby has made a candid remark about comedian Romesh Ranganathan as she prepares to return to screens with a new YouTube channel.
The 45-year-old former daytime presenter confirmed the launch of Holly Willoughby Together, her first major project since leaving ITV's This Morning in 2023 after 14 years.
Her new series will cover health, beauty, fashion, and lifestyle, presented with a wholesome, homely tone. The remark about Ranganathan arrives as a surprising contrast to that carefully crafted image.
In the premiere episode, fellow comedian Katherine Ryan joins Willoughby for a game involving Ranganathan, Rob Beckett, and Josh Widdicombe. Willoughby's playful response quickly became the show's most talked-about moment.
Willoughby described feeling "so excited" about the venture despite it being "all new territory." She noted that after 14 years in traditional television, adjusting to digital production required a learning curve for the entire team.
She observed that YouTube and television share similarities but differ in pace and format. Half the production team came from digital backgrounds while the other half worked in classic entertainment, creating a blended workflow.
The mother of three said her own children inspired the move to YouTube. She remains open to returning to traditional television when the timing feels right.
Willoughby welcomed audience feedback, noting that digital platforms allow for quicker adjustments based on viewer response. She compared her return to broadcasting to "stepping into an old pair of slippers."
Beyond lifestyle content, the show will feature in-depth conversations with guests including a grieving mother, a tech safety campaigner, chefs, a florist, and a makeup artist. Two episodes will release per week.
Willoughby stepped back from public life after a security guard was convicted of plotting to kidnap and murder her, receiving a life sentence with a minimum term of 16 years.
She also departed Dancing On Ice, which was later rested, and presented a Netflix competition series last year. The new channel premieres on July 28.
