EVOSS Accelerates ERC Permit Approvals, Shortening Timelines

The Energy Regulatory Commission announced that permit processing times have declined thanks to the Energy Virtual One-Stop Shop platform.

Three key approval processes—authorisation of point‑to‑point limited transmission facilities, capital expenditure approvals, and certificates of compliance—are now completing faster than the 2020 Citizen’s Charter targets.

Average processing durations are 144.46 days for point‑to‑point applications and 140.53 days for capital expenditure approvals, both well below the 270‑day benchmark. Certificate of compliance requests are finished in 29.65 days, compared to the prescribed 60 days.

By July, 646 applications had been submitted through the platform, including 104 point‑to‑point filings, 68 capital expenditure submissions, 143 certificates of compliance, and 331 provisional authority to operate requests.

ERC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Francis Saturnino C. Juan said the new system enables faster reviews without compromising thoroughness, aiming to make project approvals more efficient and predictable for a reliable power supply.

The web‑based platform, introduced by the Department of Energy in late 2023, streamlines applications for power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.
