BDO Raises Record P132B in Sustainability Bonds

BDO Raises Record P132B in Sustainability Bonds

BDO Unibank secured 132 billion pesos through its sixth ASEAN Sustainability Bond, a figure more than 26 times the original 5 billion‑peso offering. The transaction, the largest single corporate bond issuance in the Philippines, closed a day early on July 10, 2026, reflecting strong demand from both retail and institutional investors.

The 1.5‑year bonds were listed on the Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corp. and carry an annual coupon of 6.26 percent. Proceeds will finance and refinance assets covered by the bank’s Sustainable Finance Framework, support lending activities, and broaden its funding base.

ING Bank Manila handled the arrangement and sustainability coordination, while BDO Capital & Investment Corp. served as financial advisor. The latest issue brings BDO’s total raised through ASEAN Sustainability Bonds since 2022 to 518.7 billion pesos.

Market analysts noted that the bond’s attractive yield and short tenor drew investors amid abundant liquidity in the Philippine financial system. This enthusiasm helped the offering reach its peak early, well ahead of the original end date of July 21.

In its second‑quarter financial report, BDO recorded a 1.43 percent decline in net income to 20.61 billion pesos, driven by higher costs and loan loss provisioning. First‑half earnings totaled 40.72 billion pesos.

Shares of the bank closed at 127 pesos on Tuesday, rising 1.44 percent and adding 1.80 pesos to the previous level.
