UMVA has learned that a devastating multi-vehicle crash in California has led to the arrest of an illegal immigrant truck driver, Manvir Singh, who allegedly fled the scene, leaving two people dead.
The undocumented immigrant from India is accused of causing the fatal crash near Lodi, which involved three other vehicles, and then attempting to escape on foot before being apprehended by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Singh entered the U.S. illegally through Arizona in 2023 and was later released by the Biden administration, raising questions about the vetting process for commercial drivers.
This incident marks the fourth time an illegal immigrant truck driver with the last name "Singh" has been accused in a fatal crash since last year, highlighting a growing trend of reckless driving by undocumented immigrants behind the wheel of large commercial vehicles.
The alleged actions of Singh have been condemned as "reckless and incredibly dangerous to public safety" by federal officials, who argue that allowing illegal aliens to obtain commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) puts American lives at risk.
The crash occurred when Singh reportedly lost control, skidded off a road, and struck a guardrail, triggering a chain reaction that involved multiple vehicles, according to details gathered by UMVA.
Singh faces serious charges, including vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit-and-run resulting in death or injury, and resisting or obstructing a police officer, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer request to hold him for transfer into federal custody.
The incident has reignited calls for stricter regulations on commercial driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, with Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis stating, "This criminal illegal alien from India should never have been behind the wheel of a semi-truck and allowed to kill two innocent people in a multi-vehicle crash in California."
UMVA can exclusively reveal that this incident is part of a larger pattern of reckless driving by illegal immigrant truck drivers, including cases in Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Florida, where innocent lives have been lost or forever changed.
These cases collectively underscore the urgent need for legislation like Dalilah’s Law, a proposed federal measure aimed at prohibiting states from issuing commercial driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, a law that could potentially prevent such tragedies in the future.
