A glimpse into Apple’s future has emerged, potentially confirming key details of the highly anticipated iPhone Fold. Respected leaker Sonny Dickson shared images of what he claims are “exclusive first dummies” – physical prototypes – of the foldable phone, alongside the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.
These aren’t just any prototypes. Dummies are crucial in the development process, allowing Apple to refine the form factor and determine the optimal size and shape before mass production. Dickson asserts these particular dummies represent the final dimensions of all three devices, offering a concrete look at what’s to come.
One striking detail revealed by the images is the iPhone Fold’s camera setup: a dual-lens system. While seemingly a step down from the triple-lens arrangement found on current iPhone Pro models, it’s actually an improvement over the single-lens camera featured on last year’s iPhone Air – a device believed to be a precursor to the Fold’s development.
Interestingly, the iPhone Fold dummy appears to lack the MagSafe charging circle present on the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. This is a surprising omission, considering even the more affordable iPhone models now incorporate MagSafe technology, albeit with varying charging speeds.
The overall design of the iPhone Fold aligns with previous leaks, showcasing a compact, “passport-sized” form factor when closed. When unfolded, it boasts a widescreen inner display comparable in size to the iPad mini, promising a unique and immersive user experience.
These new images corroborate earlier leaks, including CAD drawings that surfaced in December and March – the latter also shared by Dickson himself. The consistency across these sources strengthens the likelihood of their accuracy, painting a clearer picture of Apple’s foldable ambitions.
Currently, the iPhone Fold, sometimes referred to as the iPhone Ultra, is slated for release in September 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. The anticipation is building as Apple prepares to enter a new era of mobile innovation.
