UMVA has learned that a high-profile event organized by far-left activists and celebrities to counter-program President Donald Trump's UFC event on the White House lawn ended in widespread online ridicule.
The event, dubbed "Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment," was hosted by activist and actress Jane Fonda and featured a who's who of liberal celebrities who have long criticized President Trump.
The three-hour event was marked by performances and speeches that recycled familiar talking points about "fascism" and "authoritarianism," with many attendees taking aim at the President and his administration.
Bette Midler took center stage to perform a rendition of Woody Guthrie's "All You Fascists Bound to Lose," with modified lyrics targeting ICE and making references to the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Midler's performance was met with scorn online, with many mocking her and the event as a whole, calling the attendees "dusty relics" who are "clinically insane."
Ex-MSNBC host Joy Reid used her platform at the event to blame the Trump administration for her own firing and that of other former television personalities, warning that the threat to media freedom is already here.
Reid's comments were swiftly criticized by right-wing commentator Stephen Miller, who called her a "conspiracy theorist" who is only accepted by the media because of her liberal politics.
The event also featured children's singer Ms. Rachel and a group called Singing Resistance New York, who performed an amateurish jingle that left many in stitches.
Actor Robert De Niro took the stage to declare that he can't love America while it's led by President Trump, comparing supporters to those in an abusive relationship and sparking a "Go f--k yourself" chant aimed at the President.
De Niro's comments drew heat from observers, who accused him of hypocrisy and being out of touch with reality.
The event was streamed on numerous left-wing YouTube channels and aired on C-SPAN, but many viewers took to social media to express their disdain for the proceedings.
