The Filipino pop group SB19 has been named an official Philippine tourism ambassador, recognizing their significant role in promoting the country's pop music globally.
Tourism Secretary Maria Bernardita "Dita" Angara-Mathay praised SB19's talent, stating that their music is powerful and influential, with a reach that extends across the United States, Europe, ASEAN, and beyond.
The Tourism department noted that SB19 is not only a source of national pride but also one of the country's finest representatives of Filipino culture.
SB19's lead singer and dancer, Josh Cullen, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the group, stating that they have been looking forward to this moment for a long time.
The group's music has been a key factor in connecting with the global Filipino diaspora and sharing Filipino culture, with the Tourism department sending them a balikbayan box as a send-off package for their upcoming US and Japan tours.
SB19 is known for personally conceptualizing their own music videos and content, weaving Filipino heritage into their artistry.
The group's ambassadorship comes ahead of their performances at several high-profile events, including a Major League Baseball game in the US and Lollapalooza in Chicago, as well as concerts in Japan.
SB19 has a string of hits to their name, including "GENTO," "MAPA," "DAM," "DUNGKA!," and more recently, "VISA." The group consists of members Pablo (John Paulo Bagnas Nase), Ken (Felip Jhon Suson), Justin (Justin de Dios), Stell (Stellvester Ajero), and Josh (Cullen).
