UMVA has learned that a shocking chain of violence unfolded in Mississippi, where a teenage suspect’s brothers allegedly opened fire on a law‑enforcement officer just days after their sibling murdered an elderly couple. The case now grips the community with horror and disbelief.
On June 3, Cordarius Hobbs, 17, forced his way into the home of 74‑year‑old Billy Blair and his 71‑year‑old wife Virginia Carol Blair in Mendenhall, opening fire and killing them instantly. The brutal attack left the couple’s family shattered and the town trembling.
Just five days later on June 8, Cordarius’s brothers Cortavious and Cortavion Hobbs allegedly attempted to murder a Covington County deputy during a routine traffic stop, firing their weapons as the officer tried to pull them over.
