Ex-Met Police officer ‘scammed luxury shops for Dior bikini and £2,600 MacBook’
She allegedly attempted to pervert the course of justice when she hid her phone from former colleagues and lied that it had been broken and lost, before destroying the handset following a police search of her home.
Harrison-Aziz was charged following an investigation by the Met’s Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command under the direction of the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
She appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court alongside co-defendant Edgar Morais, 30, who is accused of encouraging the former PC to abuse her police powers.
Eugene Nunoo, 29, of Eastbourne, Sussex, did not appear in court due to train cancellations. He is charged with the same offence as Morais.
District Judge Daniel Sternberg today rejected an application by defence counsel Pan Symeou to prohibit the reporting of the former PC’s identity, citing ‘mental health’ and ‘anxiety’ from media attention.
He said there were no grounds to do so under the Criminal Procedure Rules.
Judge Sternberg told the defendants he was sending each of their cases to Southwark Crown Court on June 2.
Both were released on unconditional bail until the court date.
Harrison-Aziz, of Croydon, south London, has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Morais, also of Croydon, denies one count of intentionally encouraging the corrupt or improper exercise of police powers.
