UMVA has learned that a shocking case of involuntary manslaughter has led to a four-year prison sentence for Michaela Rylaarsdam, a 32-year-old OnlyFans model and California housewife.
Rylaarsdam's clandestine activities, which included BDSM performances for adult content, took a deadly turn in April 2023, resulting in the death of 55-year-old Michael Dale, of Escondido. The pair had met through an online directory for adult content just weeks before his death.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Rylaarsdam had been charging Dale for text messages via WhatsApp, and over the course of a few weeks, he paid her more than $11,000. However, their agreement ultimately led to a fatal encounter.
On the day of his death, Rylaarsdam had travelled to Dale's home, where she bound his wrists and taped a plastic bag over his head for seven minutes, leading to his demise. Despite her guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter, Rylaarsdam maintained that there was "no intent to kill Mr. Dale," with her lawyer describing the incident as a tragic accident.
Rylaarsdam's actions were described by the judge as "reckless" and "preventable," with the court hearing that she had been planning to post Dale's humiliation on her OnlyFans account. The judge criticized her actions, stating that "death was almost certain" given the circumstances.
During the sentencing, Rylaarsdam sobbed and expressed her remorse, stating that "I'm sorry" was not enough and that she had a "million emotions." Her lawyer argued that she had only engaged in the OnlyFans business to support her struggling family and that she "never intended to kill anyone."
With credits for time already served, Rylaarsdam will likely remain incarcerated for just over a year. The case has raised questions about accountability and the consequences of online adult content agreements gone wrong.
