Dualtech to train ecozone workers

Dualtech to train ecozone workers

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority has signed a partnership with the Dualtech Training Center Foundation to provide training for workers employed in economic zones. The agreement aims to enhance the technical skills of workers in businesses operating within these zones. This collaboration will establish a framework for delivering customized training programs, assessments, and certifications that cater to the needs of businesses in the economic zones.

The partnership will facilitate the participation of businesses in the training programs, coordinate implementation across different economic zones, and help identify priority skills requirements. The agreement also covers skills mapping, industry consultations, career development initiatives, workforce planning, and learning forums to upskill workers for roles in high-value manufacturing, electronics, information technology, logistics, and other strategic industries.

Dualtech, a private vocational school established in 1972, has pioneered the German Dual Training System in the Philippines, which combines classroom and industry learning. This partnership is expected to ensure that the workforce continuously develops the technical skills and industry competencies required by investors. The goal is to boost productivity and upskill the workforce to drive long-term growth, as noted in the 2025 ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office assessment.

Philippine workers are facing pressure to meet the evolving demands of strategic industries, and this partnership is expected to further strengthen the country's position as a preferred investment destination. By anchoring on skilled human capital, the country can attract more investments and drive economic growth. The partnership is a significant step towards achieving this goal, and its impact is expected to be felt across various industries.

The collaboration between the Philippine Economic Zone Authority and Dualtech is a crucial initiative that will help address the skills gap in the workforce. By providing customized training programs and certifications, the partnership will enable workers to acquire the skills required by businesses operating in the economic zones. This, in turn, will enhance the competitiveness of the country's workforce and make it more attractive to investors.
