Slovenian official Slavko Vincic, who officiated the final, stated that Messi showed exemplary behavior throughout the game, despite the team's combative approach and subsequent controversy.
Vincic revealed that dealing with the intense emotions of the players was the biggest challenge during the match, adding that managing the game's pace and tempo was crucial in maintaining control.
"That conversation will stay on the pitch," Vincic said when asked about his interactions with Messi. "But I can confirm that Messi was extremely sportsmanlike."
Argentina has faced criticism for their behavior in the final, which resulted in a 1-0 defeat to Spain in extra time. The team has been charged by FIFA for their involvement in a brawl following the match, with several players and the coach facing disciplinary action.
