The Filipina tennis star, Alexandria "Alex" Eala, is gearing up for a thrilling summer season ahead following her remarkable grass court campaign. As she readies herself for the US Open, Alex will focus on her singles performance rather than joining the Mubadala doubles event alongside American tennis legend, Venus Williams. Eala believes that giving her full attention to singles matches while transitioning from a grass-court transition will be a disservice to her mentor, Williams.
Eala expressed her admiration for Williams in an exclusive interview held last weekend before the tournament begins. "I have a tremendous amount of respect for Venus," she said. "I am so grateful for every opportunity to be around her, to learn from her, to hit with her." However, she also believes that Williams deserves a partner who can dedicate themselves completely, physically, mentally, and emotionally when they step onto the court with her. "This is my first week coming back, and I think Venus is someone who deserves a partner who can give their all," Eala added.
