The Department of Agriculture announced the launch of the Agriculture-based Central Data Ecosystem, a new platform aimed at enhancing agricultural services through improved data management.
The system consolidates agricultural information to support better analysis and to trigger government intervention when needed. It also streamlines public services, including the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture, which underpins subsidy distribution to farmers and fisherfolk.
The initiative was developed in partnership with South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
According to the platform’s director, the new system shortens registration times to five minutes from a maximum of ten days and reduces subsidy preparation to five days from up to 26.
The AbCDE project began in 2023 and was financed at a cost of $3.5 million.
The Agriculture Secretary highlighted that digitizing services will increase transparency and enable data to be made public for fair distribution to those in need.
Local government units will receive training from personnel trained in South Korea. The training program will start next week and last two weeks.
Full operational readiness is expected by January, following completion of local government training and data population across the system.
The platform includes a retail price watch for key commodities at the municipal level, facilitating real‑time monitoring of farmgate prices.
Rapid intervention is a priority, and the software is designed to allow the Department to respond more quickly to market changes and support farmer income generation.
While most data will be publicly accessible, some real‑time information will be delayed to prevent speculation. Supply data, however, will remain available in real time to help traders react to shortages.
