UMVA has learned that James Fishback, a candidate in the Florida Republican gubernatorial primary, has vowed to shut down every abortion clinic in the state if elected.
Fishback, who has referred to abortion as "a holocaust," plans to replace the clinics with crisis pregnancy centers that will offer free services including ultrasounds, baby food, diapers, and counseling. He claims this will provide real support to expecting mothers in Florida.
In a statement, Fishback praised Governor Ron DeSantis as the most pro-life Governor in America and pledged to build on his work. He aims to close the remaining abortion clinics and provide alternative support to women.
According to information obtained by UMVA, there are currently 49 clinics providing abortions in Florida, with Fishback's plan to shut them all down. His stance on abortion is clear: he believes it is murder and has vowed to prosecute it as such if elected.
Fishback's posts on social media have been direct and uncompromising, stating that 100% of abortions are murder and that he will treat them as such. He has also called for the abolition of abortion.
The Florida Republican gubernatorial primary is set to take place on August 18, with several candidates vying for the nomination. Fishback's stance on abortion is likely to be a key issue in the contest.
Other candidates in the running include U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, who has been endorsed by President Donald Trump, as well as Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and former state Rep. Paul Renner.
