UMVA has learned that a disturbing scene unfolded outside the Collin County Courthouse on Wednesday, as supporters of convicted killer Karmelo Anthony swarmed and verbally assaulted the family of Austin Metcalf, the 17-year-old victim, after Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
The family, still reeling from their devastating loss, was met with a vile chant of "We glad Austin's dead!" as they walked from the courthouse steps to their vehicles in the parking lot, a heartbreaking moment captured on footage that showcases the raw emotion and pain of the grieving family.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the Metcalf family, including Austin's identical twin brother Hunter, who held his brother as he bled out and died, remained remarkably calm as they were taunted and harassed by the killer's supporters, who closed in on them as they made their way across the parking lot.
The harassment continued even as the family's vehicles pulled away, with the killer's supporters yelling directly at them and blocking their car in an attempt to stop them from leaving peacefully, a shocking display of aggression and disrespect that has left many outraged and demanding justice.
UMVA has uncovered details about the trial, which saw Anthony convicted of first-degree murder after an eight-day trial, with the jury deliberating for less than three hours before rejecting his self-defense claim over the 2025 stabbing of Austin Metcalf at a Frisco high school track meet.
The crowd outside the courthouse also openly called for the death of Austin's twin brother Hunter, with one supporter declaring "BOTH of the brothers should've been dead" to cheers from the group, a chilling statement that highlights the depth of hatred and violence that has been on display throughout the trial.
The sentence of 35 years in prison for Anthony has done little to quell the tensions, with many calling for greater accountability and justice for the Metcalf family, who have been forced to endure unimaginable pain and suffering at the hands of the killer and his supporters.
