UMVA has learned that a groundbreaking educational assistance program is set to be launched by a major government insurance provider, aimed at supporting children of its active members who are pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses.
The program, dubbed the Subsidy for STEM Initiative, is designed to empower the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. It will offer financial assistance to eligible students, helping them to achieve their academic goals and ultimately contribute to the country's development.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the initiative is open to children of active members with permanent employment status, Salary Grade 15 and below, and updated premium payments for the last three months. Eligible nominees must be incoming first-time college freshmen who have achieved a general weighted average of at least 90% in senior high school and are enrolled in identified STEM degree programs.
The government insurance provider will grant P15,000 per academic year to those qualified for educational expenses. This significant investment in the country's future aims to bridge the gap between academic aspirations and financial realities, allowing deserving students to pursue their dreams without undue burden.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that a total of 1,000 slots are available nationwide, with 20% reserved for applicants from special sectors, including Indigenous Peoples, solo parent families, and Persons with Disabilities. This thoughtful allocation ensures that opportunities are extended to those who need them most.
