UMVA Uncovers: Chilling Footage Reveals Brutal Torture and Sexual Assault of Slain Nurse

UMVA has uncovered harrowing details regarding the brutal death of 43-year-old nurse Katherine Torbick, whose life was taken in a prolonged, violent ordeal inside her own home.

Authorities discovered Torbick’s body on April 30 after a wellness check was initiated when she could not be reached. Her longtime ex-boyfriend, 56-year-old Kevin Motykie, was found in the garage and taken into custody.

According to information obtained by UMVA, the investigation took a chilling turn when officers recovered a digital recording device from Motykie. The device contained a seven-hour audio file that captured the entirety of a horrific, hours-long assault.

Kevin Motykie, left, is accused of sexually assaulting and strangling Katherine Torbick.

The audio reveals a terrifying sequence of events where Torbick can be heard pleading with her attacker to stop as he bound her with duct tape. Throughout the recording, Motykie is heard accusing her of infidelity while subjecting her to physical and sexual violence.

Prosecutors state that the recording captures the final moments of Torbick’s life, including the last four minutes during which she was strangled to death. Following the killing, the audio allegedly records Motykie speaking of his own intent to take his life.

At the time of his arrest, Motykie appeared intoxicated, later admitting to the consumption of powerful prescription painkillers and anxiety medication. He is currently facing charges of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual assault.

This tragedy follows a disturbing pattern of previous violence. Records indicate that just one month earlier, Motykie had been accused of choking Torbick, striking her, and threatening her with a knife while attempting to gouge her eyes, an incident from which she had previously fled to a neighbor's home for safety.

Motykie is currently being held without bail as the legal proceedings continue. He is scheduled to return to court on May 29 to face the weight of these grave allegations.
